Post 8: English Language Challenges

Image
Today I want to tell you about my experience learning English at the university and the use of blogs. First of all, I can say that writing, speaking and listening to material in English is a big challenge for me, especially because during my high school and middle school education, I was only taught grammar rules. So learning English at university was and still is an abrupt change for me, where I have had to loosen up my writing, learn new words every day to be able to expand my vocabulary in an optimal way, and for that the blogs have been very helpful, since I can use the words I am learning.  I think that one of my weak points to improve is my speaking and listening in English. It is very difficult for me to speak in English if I don't have a previous preparation, since I try to translate mentally what I want to say and that makes it very difficult for me to speak. In fact, I never speak in English because I get very nervous, and at the time of making the videos for this course

Post 7: Change to my study programme

Image
In general, I can say that the study program of the career seems to be very complete since the branches that we have so far, most of them are connected to each other and are rich in content so that a lot can be learned from all those fields. A change that I would very much like to see made within our career study program is to replace the transversal courses with others that are of interest to us, since last year's experience for the generation was not very satisfactory studying a transversal for various reasons, one of which is key: interest. On the other hand, I would like them to implement in the program, the possibility that there are more places avaiable to take cfg (general training courses) since many students have taken a cfg that does not attract their attention or they do not like because the places are full and we have no other choice.  That does not seem good to me since it demotivates the student's performance in the course he must take by requirement.  As for the

Post 6: Postgraduate Studies

Image
In the future I would like to do a postgraduate degree in clinical psychology. One of the reasons why I want to study this is because it is one of the branches of psychology that fascinates me the most and I want to feed myself with as much knowledge as possible about it, I think it will be very useful for my professional. and personal growth at the same time. Also, a personal reason I have for studying this is that there is a clinical case in my family; specifically my older brother who suffers from schizophrenia, and as we have had to learn to understand and cope with the obstacles that his mental disorder entails, I became very interested in this and other types of mental disorders that constitute clinical cases. That is why it is important for me to be able to contribute in the best possible way as a psychologist. Honestly, with all this that the pandemic has meant, I would like to do postgraduate studies in our country, since that way I will be able to be close to my family. Regar

Post 5: My future Job

Image
For my future job, I would like to have my own consultory and be independent in thath aspect. Maybe I'd like to work with a partner but I like to keep my own space, manage my own schedules and my own patients that come to me for the renown and trust that I'd like to make for myself. As I imagine, I'd have to save some money to buy a flat or small office to work in, but I think that the wait will be worth it. As I described previously, my job would be indoors. The main reason for this is that I like to decorate my spaces in my own style while making it comfortable for the patients that may come in search of my services. The closed yet welcoming spaces can help people to be more open about their problems as they feel safer, they feel more confident about their feelings and problems being carefully heard and taken into account. The major that I'm thinking of taking is probably a Ph.D or a Masters. Really all I think about is keeping myself well prepared and adding more dep

Post 4: What's like to study psychology?

Image
I study Psychology at the university of Chile in the Social Sciences Faculty. I chose this career because the truth is that I find it very interesting learning how cultural, social and biological factors can significantly influence human behavior. Because of the pandemic, my online classes are held through the zoom platform, by which  we, the students, have to conect and we can turn on our cameras or just talk through the microphone. What's true is that not all  the students have a good conection that allows them to enter to all the classes,  therefore, they must watch the recordings that the professor uploads afterwards to the platform that is owned by the university.  Honestly, I don't find this modality to be very comfortable, as being in front of a screen for long hours is very exhausting and produces both physical and psychological discomfort. Personally I've struggled a lot adapting to everything that online classes carry, because all of this has turned me into a more

Post 3: Mental health problems related to a lockdown

Image
One of the personal problems which has also affected a lot of people is the social anxiety that confinement has caused me, which makes it difficult for me to perform accordingly in this context of online classes. What I do to try to cope during this confinement is to spend time with my family and doing other things I like which are unrelated to the university.  The pandemic has meant a very big change in our lives, in the sense that before all of this happened, we didn't  truly value our freedom until it got taken away from us. On the other side, we have become more higienic people, we didn't have such an appropiate habit of washing our hands every time we touch money, ate, etc. However with the pandemic we've performed this act with a lot more frequency, and that is something good. One of the plans that I have for when this pandemic finishes, is being able to visit my grandparents which have been far away from me  during this pandemic, and I miss them very much. I would al

Post 1: A country you would like to visit

Image
The country I would like to visit would be France. France is one of the most iconic countries of Europe,  as it is known for having the city of love and  fashion, Paris. France also is one of  the countries with the most history and consciousness about it's own revolutions, which also makes it's people very socially active and manifest against the injustices that they may find. The main places I'd like to visit are the Eiffel tower, a symbol that represents the whole country; the Louvre, an historical museum that has some of the most important pieces of art in the world. And last but not less important, I'd like to visit the bakery inspired on my favorite animated serie: Miraculous ladybug, which also inspired the name of my blog.  In the Eiffel tower, I'd like to go up to the top, I imagine that it must have a fantastic view and it must be very exciting being so high up.  Personally I believe that I wouldn't like to live in France, because doing so would mean b
